Corruption prevention committees are voluntary, comprising honest and active people from a cross-section of the society including teachers, religious leaders and former government officials. One-third of the members are women, wherever possible. Committee members are primarily nominated by the Integrated District Offices and vetted by the Headquarters before endorsement. Non-affiliation with any political party and free from any criminal record are two principal criteria to become members of district prevention committees.

ACC spent considerable time in constitution and reconstitution of District Corruption Prevention Committees from 2011 to 2013. Year-wise statistics of these district committees are given in the following Table.

After the formation of committees, an orientation programme is arranged at Divisional Headquarters to make them understand forms of corruption and to develop their skills to mobilise people against corruption through certain activities.

These committees arrange discussion meetings, seminars, workshops, and rallies throughout the year. More specifically, the role of these committees is crucial in carrying out Anti Corruption Week (26 March to 1 April of every year) and observing International Anti-Corruption Day on 9 December across the country. ACC Chairman, Commissioners and high officials participate in such corruption prevention activities.

Committees receive a lump sum amount of money to organise the events and anti-corruption slogan- inscribed caps and T-shirts from the ACC to distribute among the mass people.
